The Body's Transportation Network! 🚚
The **circulatory system**, also known as the cardiovascular system, is essentially a massive transportation network that moves materials throughout your body. Its main purpose is to deliver **oxygen** and **nutrients** to every cell and pick up **waste** products like carbon dioxide.
The system is composed of three key elements: the pump (**Heart**), the fluid (**Blood**), and the tubes (**Blood Vessels**).
The Key Components 🩸
Each part plays a vital role in keeping everything moving:
1. Heart (The Pump)
A muscular organ with four chambers that pumps blood throughout the body. It ensures blood flows in two separate loops: to the lungs and to the rest of the body.
2. Blood (The Fluid)
The fluid that carries everything: Red blood cells carry oxygen, white blood cells fight infection, and plasma carries nutrients and waste.
3. Blood Vessels (The Tubes)
The pipes for the blood. The three main types are **Arteries**, **Veins**, and **Capillaries**.
