What is Absolute Value?
The **absolute value** of a number is its distance from zero on the number line. Since distance is always a positive value, the absolute value of any number (except zero) is positive.
The notation for absolute value is two vertical bars around a number, like $$|-5|$$ or $$|5|$$.
