Interactive practice • challenge problems • speed quiz • 3D viewer • CSV download

Intro & Concept

Surface area is the total area of all the faces (or sides) of a 3D object. Think of it like the amount of wrapping paper you would need to cover a gift box. A cube has 6 identical square faces. 🎁

To find the surface area of a cube, we follow these steps:

  1. Find the area of one face: Area = side × side.
  2. Since a cube has 6 identical faces, multiply the area of one face by 6.

The formula is: Surface Area = 6 × (side × side) or $SA = 6s^2$
