A **percentage** is a way of talking about a part of a whole, specifically a part of **100**. The word "percent" comes from "per centum," which means "out of 100" in Latin. 💯
Think of it like this: if you have a test with 100 questions and you get 90 of them right, you got **90 percent** correct. We use the percent symbol (%) to write it, so it would be **90%**. A percentage can be written as a fraction with a denominator of 100. For example, 90% is the same as the fraction 90/100.
