What's the difference?

**Probability** is the measure of the likelihood that an event will occur. It's about predicting the future based on known outcomes. The probability of an event $A$ is written as $P(A)$, and is calculated as: $$P(A) = \frac{\text{Number of favorable outcomes}}{\text{Total number of possible outcomes}}$$

**Statistics** is the science of collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting data. It's about drawing conclusions from past or current data to describe a sample or make inferences about a population.

Practice Problems

Solve these problems about probability and statistics!

1) What is the probability of rolling a 6 on a standard six-sided die? (e.g., 1/6)
2) What is the mean (average) of the data set: {2, 5, 5, 8}?
3) What is the probability of flipping heads twice in a row? (e.g., 1/4)
4) What is the mode of the data set: {3, 7, 7, 8, 9}?
