The Building Blocks of Geometry
Geometry is built on three fundamental undefined terms: **points**, **lines**, and **planes**.
- A **point** has no dimension, it's just a location. It's represented by a dot and named with a capital letter, like point A.
- A **line** has one dimension (length) and extends infinitely in two directions. It's made up of an infinite number of points and is named by two points on the line (e.g., line $l$) or by a single lowercase letter.
- A **plane** has two dimensions (length and width) and extends infinitely. It's represented by a parallelogram and is named by a capital letter or by three non-collinear points.
Key terms to know:
- **Collinear points** are points that lie on the same line.
- **Coplanar points** are points that lie on the same plane.
